Free Woodworking Plan: Build a Modern Kitchen Cupboard

Today, I launch my fourteenth woodworking plan titled You Can Build a Modern Kitchen Cupboard. The design of this cupboard started out as a traditional cupboard, but then slowly turned modern with the addition of birdseye maple as an accent wood to the painted pine and plywood. The contemporary door and drawer pulls are illustrated in a contrasting cherry wood, the little extension of the center face frame style and the curved ends to the cupboard top complete the modern look. You Can Build a Modern Kitchen Cupboard is a fully illustrated 30 page document and includes multiple exploded views, a cut list and material cutting diagram for the plywood components. There is also a detailed SketchUp model available for download. Let’s take a look at some sample pages… The Modern Kitchen Cupboard is rated as a moderate skill level project due to the mortise and tenon joinery along with the raised panel in the doors. But, you could substitute more simple joinery for the M & T and the panels in the door don’t …

Free Woodworking Plan: The Jackson Dresser

Free 34 Page Woodworking Plan and a Fully Detailed SketchUp Model. When I create a woodworking plan, it is usually the result of a finished project, or a design that takes bits and pieces of various projects I have built over my past 33 years of woodworking. This woodworking plan is different. It is the first one I have published based on a reader request. So, The Jackson Dresser woodworking plan took off. I have been complemented in the past on how detailed my woodworking plans are. I view these plans as teaching documents which hopefully move beginner woodworkers into more complex projects. The Jackson Dresser is about as detailed a plan as …

Reader Builds the Media Cabinet

There is nothing better than getting an email from a reader who has built a piece of furniture following one of my woodworking plans. My most recent plan is You Can Build the Versatile Media Cabinet. Mark Malcolm recently took on this project and the finished product is fantastic, especially since this is his first piece of furniture to build. I asked Mark for more information about this project. He said… It came out great (esp for my first one). As you can see I changed out the laminate plywood legs and face frames for poplar. Used two coats of cherry Minwax and two coats of their satin poly. I also changed the pulls to match the hardware color in the room. The bookcase you see is actually a hidden door I found online using Rixson center post hinges. I finished that first and then moved to the bookcase. My boys got my a new sliding mitre saw for Christmas so I think I might try to tackle your plans for the mitre stand. Looks awesome and I could easily use …
